Besides
posters and Iris prints, these collages were made into invitations,
CD rom covers, return address labels, as well used as the
art work and design elements in various web sites. These
images are essentially collages with text. They were created
for music festivals located in New York along the Hudson
River. I used traditional archetypal symbols and discovered
that they referred happily to the river, fiord, mountains,
and other landscape elements of the area. Utilizing text
was a way to continue the collage element in the posters.
To work, the text had to extend the imagery of the art in
the collage, or offer a counterpoint to it. This was an
additional way of expressing the musical content of the
invitations and posters.
For me,
these invitations and posters express the creativity and
vision of bold experimentation and collaboration found in
the Hudson Valley.
These images
resulted from the excitement evoked by these classical and
avant-garde classical music festivals. These pieces were
created in the Hudson Valley. .
