| My
art is about the wonder and mystery of the life force.
Raised
on the shores of the Mediterranean, and originally
trained as a photographer, I paint with the colors
of light. I frequently see color and fractal shapes
or patterns around me that convey a sense of the dynamism,
vitality and rhythms of life. Thus, rhythmic patterns
often emerge in my paintings.
Internationally
respected Magnum photographer Leonard Freed describes
my paintings as having “a primitive power like
that of Emil Nolde.” He further states that
my work “is what painting is all about: It has
a painterly quality and a primitive energy that is
not conventional... Paintings must flow internally
from the artist. Drummond’s work does this.”
Art
dealer Richard Ruchala states that “Drummond
does with circles and curves what Mondrian did with
lines and angles.” He further comments that
“Drummond’s neo-organic work is about
experiencing life as being non-linear.”
My iconography developed
during extensive painting expeditions I have taken
to sacred sites around the world, including the Galapagos
Islands, Uluru (or Ayers Rock) in Australia, Kilauea
Volcano in Hawaii, the Buddhist temple Borobodur in
Indonesia, Ellora and Ajanta rock temples in India,
Anatolian archeological sites in Turkey, and Knossos
Palace in Crete, among others. As the result of these
extensive painting expeditions and subsequent art
exhibitions, I was invited to become a member of the
esteemed Society of Women Geographers.
Following are images from various series of paintings,
collages and writings that resulted from those expeditions.
Also included are other artworks, such as assemblages,
posters, painted pottery and painted furniture.
Prices and resumes are available on request.
