“Divine Sparks: A New Creation Myth” is a whimsical story about the creation of the cosmos, and a metaphor for the transformative nature of creativity. This myth explores Divine Sparks: how they are born, and how they are manifested in each of us and in our universe. As a father explained “Divine Sparks” to his little daughter recently: “This is a story about the beginning of the world, and how before it was created there was nothing, but in that nothing was possibility. And, that’s what you are: Possibility.”

In its current manuscript state, “Divine Sparks” is a celebratory creation poem, illustrated with original paper cut-outs, that evokes a sense of iconic, archetypal and germinal essences (or possibilities). The tale unfolds as quirky, quarky states of energy are aroused by their emerging sentience. As these states of energy, or sparks, discover, the more they give to an engagement of self and to each other, the greater is the creative exponent. In this way they get more big bang for their buck. Their eruptive paean culminates in an age of awakened collective consciousness.

“Divine Sparks: A New Creation Myth—The Film” will be an original, celebratory art film. The film’s style of kinetic collage with animation, and a festive, cartoon-like quality that appeals to the child in all of us, allows for a great range of creativity and diverse media that expands as the story unfolds. It will incorporate animation and computer graphics; film footage of outer space, live performance, and home movies; microbiology and NASA photographs; dance; avant-garde classical, world, and improvisational music with nature sounds; acting and voice-overs; as well as my original art (photographs, paintings, and collages) in a multicultural, multimedia celebration of the creative process. Exploring a kinetic collage style, “Divine Sparks” enfolds and intermingles diverse images and sounds to reveal surprising connections and juxtapositions. The vibrant effluence of color, dance, music, a multiplicity of accents and languages, integrating my art with that of many artists, will be woven into a JUMP FOR JOY celebratory film.
